SCAFFOLDING BOARDS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

George Roberts North West Limited – “the company “-has for many years supplied manufactured Scaffolding Boards produced by the UK’s leading Board provider. Predominantly the Boards supplied have met the normal Industry specified Standard known as “Grade A “which have a 1.2m Maximum Supported Centre. These Boards have traditionally held a significant share of the U.K. market place.

GRADE A Standard. To meet the requirement of the standard the boards are either visually graded and identified with a “V G “marking or machine strength graded and identified with an “M G” marking on the – usually – End Band of the Board. In addition the following markings are shown: “Support every 1.2m Max”   and the manufacturers mark or code is shown to offer tractability back to source.

In certain environments a BS2482 Board has been  requested and supplied. These have a 1.5m Maximum Supported Centre and have traditionally been used and specified in Industrial environments and applications
BS 2482/1981 Standard.  To meet the requirement the boards are either machine graded or visually graded to the higher specification required.

Importantly, the Boards (normally on the Bands) MUST also show “Support every 1.5m Max” / “BS2482” / Manufacturers “Licence Number” / the BS “Kitemark” Emblem and the Manufacturers mark or Code for tractability back to source.

George Roberts supply history.

Supply of  Scaffolding Boards in the last decade by George Roberts have been to Grade A Standard with the majority Machine Graded to a 1.2m Max support finish. These Boards were supplied since 2003 via our manufacturer under their “Alpha Plus“ Brand which sought to pre-empt today’s criteria by ensuring EVERY  Board was Machine Graded and subsequently marked up and identified the same.

In addition many tens of thousands of BS2482/1981 Boards have also been requested and supplied on a regular monthly basis.

CHANGES - JULY 2009. BS2482/2009 “
Following the introduction of a new standard – BS2482/2009 -to encompass the “1.2m Max Centre” Board our supplier has taken the bold step of offering ONLY BS2482/2009 accredited Boards into the market.
