Scaff Gap
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 imposes a duty to provide safe working platforms. One of the most common causes of injury on construction sites is falling objects hitting site operatives.
The 50mm gap between scaffold boards that is created by the inside supporting standards represents a very real hazard in this regard, being sufficient to allow most hand tools and small site equipment to fall through.
Until now, the most common way of bridging this gap, and thereby assuring site safety, has been to cut and fix timber strips to the scaffold boards, a time consuming process which can compromise the integrity of the boards and create a tripping hazard.
